Check out Ali's
Isle Of Man TT Database entry.
Born in Amington, near Tamworth in 1952, Alistair's first motorbike was a 250cc Royal Enfield (known as Royal ‘Oilfield’ to the experienced) GT Continental road machine . Later, in 1973, he started racing on a 750cc Triumph/Norton - his Dad's old bike, from whom he also got the speed bug (the speed scared him to death at first and he hated it).
Ali’s first proper race bike was a 750cc BSA A65 Metisse – (Ex Dave Mason) on which he had reasonable success although he did crash it first time out at Gerrards Bend, Mallory Park - on practice day ! The most memorable aspect of the crash was the fairing acting like a huge scoop, ploughing the mud everywhere !
In 1976 Ali found sponsors in the form of BeeBee Bros. - a scrap metal business run by brothers Mike and David Hoskison. Mike sponsored Ali and David sponsored Ali’s close friend and very successful rider, Malcolm Lucas. BeeBee later employed Ali as a driver.
Today Ali works as an HGV driver delivering food to Sainsbury stores and also finds time to try and play one of his collection of guitars. He is married to Val and has two children, Martin and Joanne. Joanne is a managing director of "Forever There" caring for the elderly at home and Martin a successful carpet fitter who also produces music.
